FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions.
Here are some common questions about TRAX Trailer Dollies.

What kind of batteries do TRAX use for their trailer dollies?

All our dollies use UB12350 size deep cell batteries. They are classified as Group U1 35-hour amp 12-volt batteries. We use three batteries to get a total of 36 volts. We recommend using a closed-cell battery as they do not leak or off gas.

Can I use lithium batteries instead of deep cell batteries?

You can use lithium batteries, but we recommend deep cycle batteries as they are cheaper and much heavier than a lithium style. We want a heavy dolly as it will gain much better traction than if the dolly where lightweight. If you wish to go with a lithium battery style, you will need to purchase a battery charger that can charge lithium batteries like our 4hr NoCo.

Are batteries included with my trailer dolly purchase?

Batteries are not included with your powered tow dolly as we ship worldwide, and because acid-filled batteries are regulated by EPA, they can cause issues with LTL Freight, UPS Express, and even with the people at CBP as they do not qualify for USMCA / Free Trade tax and duty-free. We only ship batteries to the lower 48 states and within Canada. Anyone outside of these areas we recommend getting batteries locally as they are easily sourced. Simply ask your local battery shop for Group U1 or UB12350 size batteries.

How do I reestablish wireless controller connection?

To Reestablish the connenection to your wireless controller.

you will have to turn off both the machine and the controller.

Turn on your Trax Power Dolly.
Press and hold the controller’s power button for 15 seconds.
The lightswith rapidly flash, and you will heard a few clicks from your machine

How do you ship your products?

Shipping will depend on a few factors.

  1. Size and weight of the product.
  2. How many dollies are ordered?
  3. How fast do you need it?
  4. How much are you willing to pay for shipping service?

We usually ship the TX6000 via UPS Express as it’s quick to get through customs and should normally get to most US locations within 2-3 days.
The GT8000 normally gets shipped via LTL Freight, depending on whether you want it assembled and what accessories you wish to include with your order. We can ship UPS Express, but shipping costs may have to be figured out after the order as we will have to ship in multiple boxes, and we will have to request a shipping quote for your location.
The TRAX X2 gets shipped LTL Freight as the package is much larger, and UPS or FedEx will not be able to handle the size or weight of the package.
Due to weight and size, the J5 tow dolly ( coming soon!! ) will also need LTL freight services.

Depending on your location, most of our parts and accessories will be shipped via UPS Express or Ground services.

Electrical Troubleshooting

The 1st step to troubleshoot this, is to take your batteries to a place that can load test them.

Most places that sell batteries can also do the testing.

It could be, that over time, they have become unbalanced in their charge levels.

If they are unevenly charged, you can use a 12v charger to get them all charged up individually.

Once they are testing good, and fully charged, put them back in the machine.

How long is turnaround time?

We design and fabricate all the power dollies in our Aylmer location. Some tow dolly designs take longer to fabricate and assemble, whereas others take less time.
For the most part, we should have your order shipped the same day as the order ( Monday – Thursday ), but others may be a week or three, depending on our build schedule, etc. We are excited to get this amazing product in the hands of our customers as much as you are excited to witness the awesomeness of TRAX Powered Trailer Dollies.
